Kicking off January 1st of each year, when Sawtooth Shootist Society (SSS) club members participate in club hosted monthly matches, you will have two ways to earn club points as described below.

At the end of each calendar year, the club members with the most winning round points, Man and Lady, will be recognized as a SSS Gunfighter Extraordinaire. Also, the club members with the most match points will be the Club Points Race Champions. Recognition prizes for both may vary from year to year.

It’s a new decade (2020), which means it’s time, for a new twist that will benefit our club members. This additional new format will allow all club members at all shooting levels to vie for the top match points. Be ready for more twists…At any time during the year, we could provide opportunities to challenge for or earn more points.

Match points issued will be determined as follows:

  • Club members roll a die at the time of match registration.

  • The number you roll 1 - 6 equals your potential points for the day.

  • For earning the top places at the match, those in the Fantastic 5 will be given the opportunity to try to increase their points (max of five (5) challenge rounds per division per match).

  • Challenges must be within your own Division. All Youth/Juniors are included in the Men and Ladies Divisions.

  • The lowest placing club member in the Fantastic 5 will start the challenges by challenging any other club member, no matter where they placed, for their rolled number.

  • If the Challenger wins the 8' 5 shot single elimination (1X) bout, they trade numbers with the Challengee. If the Challengee wins or there is a tie after the 5 shots, they both keep the points they had.

  • Challengers can only Challenge once.

  • The Challengee can only be challenged once, but if they are also in the Fantastic 5, they still have their one opportunity to challenge.

  • This continues until the highest placing club member has completed their challenge opportunity.

  • If challenged, you can’t decline the challenge.

  • If you qualify to challenge, but prefer to keep your current number, you can waive your challenge opportunity. However, be prepared, because you could still be challenged for it.

  • Once the challenges are completed, the number you have is the number of points you receive for the match points.

Other Details:

  • Zero (0) points are issued to club members for non-attendance.

  • If you leave the match before the challenge rounds occur, you will be issued one (1) attendance point, no matter how many points you rolled at registration. No rolled points will stand unless there has been an opportunity for them to be challenged during the challenge rounds.

  • Be ready for more twists…At any time during the year, we could provide opportunities to challenge for or earn more points.

  • Cowboys & Angels is a team charity fundraiser. The points are earned by the team's combined efforts instead of solely on individual effort so the Challengee's will be those top 5 men and ladies (club members) with the most wins during the main match.

  • Ties for 1st – 5th place in the club points will be shot-off at November’s match with a single elimination (1X) bout. Ties for remaining places will be broken by your place at November’s match. Non-attendance puts you at the bottom place for which you tied.

  • No points will be issued for December’s Christmas match. Annual awards will be finalized and handed out at that match.

  • Separate Gunfighter Extraordinaire awards, which may vary from year to year, will be issued to the club members, Man and Lady, with the most club match rounds won over the year. Ties will be broken by fastest times or an accepted (1X) shoot-off challenge. Feel free to also challenge to break a tie any time during the year.

Important Note: Points are not issued retroactively. Must be a paid member of SSS and CFDA, on the day of the event, to earn match and round win points for the event.

Let the shooting and strategizing begin!
